The presentation described three case studies which exemplify how human biomonitoring (HBM) data can be used in cancer risk assessment. These are related to the cancer risk assessment of hexavalent chromium, o-toluidine and PAHs. Challenges and uncertainties related to each case are discussed. It is concluded that although there are always some uncertainties related to the extrapolation of the exposure based on the HBM data, even higher uncertainties may be related to the conventional risk assessment using external intake estimates for exposure assessment.
