Presentation for HBM4EU Training School in Nijmegen (19-23 November 2018). The aim of this course is to help the trainees to understand the logical workflow and the mathematical framework that describe the integrated exposure modelling and how it relates to environmental, consumer, dietary exposure and get translated into biomonitoring data. A key component towards this direction is the internal dose modelling, materialized by the physiology based toxicokinetic (PBTK) models. The exposome concept is discussed and the state-of-the-art methods for external and internal exposure assessment are presented. They include the use of agent based modelling for population exposure assessment as well as the illustration of exposure biology workflow and EWAS to unravel associations between exposure and disease.
