The SOP is based on internal SOPs employed by IOM to assess dermal exposure to various metals such as zinc and nickel as well as crude oil / base oils using wipe sampling methods. It involves the use of SKC Ghost sampling wipes, which can also be used to collect samples of several metals including chromium, as specified in OSHA Method ID-125G, Addendum B . (It should however be noted that recovery, sampling and storage efficiency of the wipe sampling method has not been validated within the HBM4EU project). The goal is to provide a uniform methodology to collect representative samples of the hand contamination to total chromium in a standardized manner.
