HBM4EU linked third parties in Austria
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management is the Programme Owner of HBM4EU in Austria.
EAA, MUI, UMIT, AGES and MUW are members of the Austrian Human Biomonitoring platform and constitute now as the National Hub within HBM4EU.
Experts in science and administration who are active in the field of Human Biomonitoring are working together, under the management of the Environment Agency Austria, on the Austrian Human Biomonitoring platform. The platform was founded in 2007 and has set itself the task to establish Human Biomonitoring to promote health and environmental protection in Austria and to support national prevention targets. Since September 2016 the platform has been an official advisory body of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management in matters relating to the interface between the environment and human health.

The HBM4EU project was launched in 2016 with the aim of improving the collective understanding of human exposure to hazardous chemicals and developing HBM as an exposure assessment method. The project had €74m in funding and jointly implemented by 120 partners from 28 participating countries – 24 EU member states plus Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Israel and the European Environment Agency. One of its aims was to ensure the sustainability of HBM in the EU beyond 2021. The project ended in June 2022. The website will not be updated any longer, except the page on peer reviewed publications, but will be online until 2032.
